My 8-year old daughter completed both the Davis Mastery for Dyslexia program, as well as the Mastery for Attention Program, with facilitator Marla Verdone. As a psychiatrist, I am well-aware of the impact that individual beliefs have on a person's self-esteem and motivation. By focusing on her strengths, gifts, and potential, the Davis approach beautifully highlighted my daughter's innate capacity to learn, succeed, and believe in herself. Difficulties went away!   My daughter was reading a full page in a chapter book on the 2nd day of her program and she couldn’t wait to show me.  Her progress in one week was remarkable. I was so glad to understand her way of thinking and how she learns because I was shown how to support her and had no clue how to help her frustration before.   Weeks later we realized she was no longer having balance issues.  No more random meltdowns from sensory overload and also she had tools to use to stop them and keep calm.  She understood change and sequence; she was ready to go with all her things to leave the house to school and liked creating order for herself and her things.   She now could take several step directions. My Davis Program changed my life!    Things got better!  Life got better!  Everything got better!  I was able to turn around and do my artwork again and also stay at a job.  I also realized all the things other people did that would disorient me like time pressure makes things harder for me.  For the first time I understood how my brain thinks and I was able to stick up for myself and know my talents.  Before people would correct me and I had no idea what I did that they considered wrong in the first place.   It’s not wrong, I just do things differently.  I now have bosses say, "We need your specialty! The Davis program gave me a way to my life dream!   I had graduated from High School but unable to read or write.  I was a trouble maker - I didn’t mind being kicked out of school or in the Principal office because it was easier than learning.  I was unable to read to fill out a job application.  Life was going nowhere.   I made lots of bad choices.   My sister found a video of Ron Davis talking about Disorientation and Dyslexia and then found Marla in my city  I now have orientation tools and now I can read and write.   I completed my program but didn’t know what to do next.   Marla helped me figured out what to do next.  What I wanted required more education but together new goals were set and I got enrolled in a college program and graduated.

Ronald D. Davis was WAY ahead of his time with his Dyslexia research. It is only in recent years that the scientific and educational community has begun to look at neurodiversity and how those differences create the perceptual talents of Dyslexia and related diagnoses.
I now do other things than just homework!    My grades are great now and I can be in school clubs.  Most importantly, I get to play sports again!
